CHICAGO – University of Chicago's 10th-ranked women's basketball program secured an 87-75 home victory over No. 18 Rochester on Sunday in University Athletic Association (UAA) action.

The Maroons, after suffering two-straight defeats in conference play, responded with a win over Rochester, avenging a loss from Jan. 29 on the road. UChicago maintained an advantage most of the way, but a 30-point fourth quarter helped the Maroons finish off their sixth UAA win and 17th overall (17-3, 6-3).

Grace Hynes led the scoring with 25 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field. Ellie Gross added 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals. Marissa Powe was also in double-digits with 11 points, racking up seven rebounds and four steals. 

UChicago's defense forced 19 turnovers while the Maroons only had 11 turnovers. UChicago also dominated the paint with 52 points on the inside and 37 rebounds to Rochester's 30.

The contest between the Maroons and Yellowjackets had added meaning as UChicago recognized the matchup as its Childhood Cancer Awareness game. Both teams sported shirts to benefit the cause and the program is currently raising money, in conjunction with Alex's Lemonade Stand, to support Childhood Cancer research. 

The Maroons finish off their road UAA slate next weekend, taking on NYU and Brandeis on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12, respectively.
