CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's tennis team blasted past North Central College 9-0 on Friday night.
The No. 1-ranked Maroons kept their perfect record intact at 11-0. The Cardinals fell to 17-2.
UChicago swept the three doubles bouts by scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-1. Singles was similarly lopsided as the Maroons captured all six singles spots in straight sets. Nicole Geller and Brooke Pedersen only surrendered one game each in their wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Shianna Guo only allowed two games at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-0) while Claudia Ng limited her No. 6 opponent to three games (6-3, 6-0).
Sylwia Mikos, Guo, Ng, Geller and Pedersen each picked up victories in both singles and doubles. Miranda Yuan prevailed at No. 5 singles while Perene Wang combined with Ng at No. 2 doubles for the quick win.
