CHICAGO – University of Chicago's top-ranked women's tennis program cruised to an undefeated 9-0 victory over Washington University – St. Louis on Saturday at the XS Tennis Center.
The Maroons continued their undefeated run in 2023 with a sweep of University Athletic Association (UAA) foe WashU at home. Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo won at No. 1 doubles 8-2 while teammates Perene Wang and Claudia Ng defeated their competition 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
Brooke Pedersen and Nicole Geller aided UChicago to a sweep with an 8-4 win in the No. 3 doubles slot. Mikos swept her singles competition as well in the top slot, winning 6-2, 6-2. Guo also won in straight sets at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.
Geller split the first two sets before a third-set win, 10-7, at the third singles spot. Pedersen swept 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Miranda Yuan dropped the first set in the fifth spot before a comeback to win the final two sets, 7-5, 10-7. Ng also secured a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 6 singles slot.
The Maroons will head to the Midwest Invite on Friday, April 7-8.
