Box Score NAPERVILLE, Ill. – University of Chicago's baseball program defeated North Central 11-0 in seven innings in non-conference play on Friday evening.
The Maroon bats were active early as UChicago pushed across five runs in the second and followed that with six runs in the third to take a commanding lead. Drew Bryan pitched the first 3.0 innings for the Maroons and kept NCC off balance with five strikeouts while scattering three hits.
Every player in the UChicago lineup had at least one hit and 6-of-9 had multi-hit games. Jackson Slipock led the way with two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Blane Soper, Jack Sharp and Richard Lu also had two hits and added one RBI each. Brady Miller, who started at shortstop, had two hits in the leadoff spot and Jonathan Zeevi collected two hits as well.
Bryan was relieved by John Butka (2-1), whom earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out five batters. Kirk Waller finished off the sixth with the final out and Phil Hogan struck out the side in the seventh to end the game in run-rule sudden victory.
UChicago continues its non-conference weekend with a doubleheader at Wheaton on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m.
