Box Score WHEATON, Ill. -- With rain pouring down throughout the night, the University of Chicago women's soccer team lost 1-0 at Wheaton College on Wednesday.
The Maroons fell to 9-5-0 on the year. The No. 14-ranked Thunder improved to 13-2-2.
Wheaton possessed for most of the first half and got an early goal in the fifth minute from Leah DeMoss. The Thunder made runs on goal throughout the game, but the Chicago defense held strong as goalie Jacinda Reid made a number of diving saves to keep the game close.
The Maroons started building up offensive attacks in the second half and caught Wheaton's defense on its heels several times by picking off passes in the back. All three of Chicago's shots on goal ended up being saved.
A steady volume of rain poured onto the pitch all the way through. The wetness effected some saves, however, both goalies collected the ball quickly to prevent any rebounds.
Wheaton ended up with 20-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Reid made nine saves between the pipes.
The Maroons will play their final non-conference match of the year at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a 3:30 PM start on Saturday.
