Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's basketball team dropped to 1-4 on the season with a 67-57 loss at No. 17-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday.
The Maroons took the early advantage with hot shooting from beyond the arc. UChicago netted five three-pointers to take a 21-9 lead midway through the first half. However, IWU chipped away at the lead and went into halftime down 32-28.
UChicago had its best offensive stretch of the season, making 12 of 22 shots in the half, including 5 of 9 from three-point range. Morgan Donovan scored 10 points in 15 minutes of play, and Paige Womack tallied eight points. IWU only made 10 of its first 30 shots.
The Titans turned up the defensive heat with their full-court press in the second half. The hosts then went on a 10-0 run, took a 38-32 lead and didn't trail the rest of the game. In total, IWU forced 34 turnovers over the course of the game.
UChicago shot a season-best 55.3 percent from the field (21 of 38), 45.5 percent from three-point range (5 of 11) and 76.9 percent from the charity stripe (10 of 13). The Maroons won the rebounding battle 32-26.
IWU ended up with a 37.7 field goal percentage (23 of 61), 21.4 three-point percentage (3 of 14) and 85.7 free throw percentage (18 of 21).
