CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago baseball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday with a 7-2 loss to North Central College at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Summary

  • The game was called in the top of the ninth because of steadily increasing rain showers.

  • The Maroons (22-12) took the early lead on a two-out, two-run double off the bat of senior C Stephen Williams (Malibu, Calif./ Malibu) (pictured). Chicago managed only three hits the rest of the way.

  • North Central (20-14) tied the game in the fourth, then took the lead in the seventh on RBI doubles from LF Steve Hlavac and 1B Joe Turek.

  • Sam Klein (1-0) pitched seven innings to record the win, while sophomore Alex Terry (Omaha, Neb./ Brownell-Talbot) was charged with the loss. Terry (4-3) allowed five runs (four earned) over seven frames.

Notes

  • North Central salvaged a split in the season series with Tuesday's win. Chicago defeated the Cardinals 12-7 in Naperville on Apr. 18.

  • Chicago's home record evened at 6-6.
