Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's soccer team tied North Park University 2-2 in a foul-filled contest on Tuesday.
The No. 23-ranked Maroons ran their record to 5-1-2 while the Vikings' record sits at 4-2-2.
Chicago took the lead right away in the fourth minute when Danny Hahn scored with an assist from Kyle Kurfirst. The Maroons defense extended their streak of not allowing a goal to 393 minutes until the 54th minute when North Park tied the score 1-1.
The hosts then took the 2-1 lead with another score in 78th minute. But Kurfirst came through with less than three minutes remaining in the game with the tying goal from Michael Choquette.
The second half and overtimes became quite chippy, featuring eight yellow cards and one red card. The foul total ended up at 48 for the game. Neither team could break through in the subsequent extra periods as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Maroons goalie David Cohen played the first half and made five saves. Brett Wiesen took the second half and overtimes, making three saves and allowing both goals.
North Park ended up with the slight edge in shots (18-17) and corner kicks (9-8).
The Maroons begin their conference schedule at 1:30 PM (ET) on Saturday at Emory University.
