Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Julie Muguira scored a career-high 21 points to lead the University of Chicago women's basketball team to a 77-62 victory over Marian (Wis.) University on Tuesday.
The Maroons (6-10) won their third-straight game while the Sabres (4-15) lost their sixth game in-a-row.
Three-pointers got the visitors off to a good start, as UChicago hit a trio in the opening minutes to go up 11-3. The lead expanded up to 32-17 following a three by Caitlin Moore. Marian went on a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to 36-29 at halftime. The Maroons ended up shooting 50 percent in the opening half, with a 21-10 rebounding advantage. Moore led the scorers with nine points, while Muguira added seven points.
In the second half, the home side kept things interesting by scoring nine-straight points to tie the game at 40-40. Marian took its first lead of the game 48-46 shortly thereafter on a layup. However, Claire Devaney's three-pointer put the Maroons back up for good at 51-48. Seven treys in the half helped UChicago extend and hold its lead for the rest of the game.
The Maroons ended up hitting a blistering 66.7 percent (12 of 18) from three-point range, and 53.8 percent from the field in the game. The 12 treys is their highest total in a game since equaling that mark on Feb. 20, 2011. UChicago also owned the boards, outrebounding the Sabres 41-19.
Muguira hit 8 of 11 shots from the field, including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc.
