Box Score LISLE, Ill. -- Junior forward Matt Vecchitto scored in the first five minutes of the game and the University of Chicago men's soccer team kept up the offensive pressure all game in a 4-0 victory over Benedictine University on Saturday.
The Maroons improved to 2-0-0 while the Eagles fell to 1-2-0.
UChicago wasted little time in grabbing the lead. Senior midfielder Sawyer Kisken set up Vecchitto for the first goal only 4:20 into the match. Just under 10 minutes later, Kisken made it 2-0 with assists from sophomore midfielder Peter Boxley and junior midfielder Nick Codispoti. The third score of the half came courtesy of senior midfielder Sam Preston in the 37th minute.
Junior midfielder Michael Choquette wrapped up the scoring two-and-a-half minutes into the second half. Junior forward Nick Hollenkamp picked up the assist.
The Maroons outshot the Eagles 20-4 in the game while corner kicks were even at four apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Brett Wiesen got the win, making two saves in 55 minutes of action. Fellow sophomore goalkeeper David Cohen came in for 35 minutes and totaled one save.
