Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. – In the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship, the No. 25-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team was defeated by DePauw University 3-0 on Thursday.
The Maroons finish their season with a 26-13 overall record. The Tigers advance to the second round with a 27-10 record.
DePauw 3, UChicago 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-18)
The first set was nip and tuck as each side kept the other from pulling away. The score was tied 19-19 when DePauw rolled up six-straight points to take the set, 25-19. In the second set, the Tigers jumped ahead at 10-5 and extended the lead to 19-11. UChicago got back to within five points at 22-17, but DePauw grabbed the set, 25-19. The Tigers scored 11 points in-a-row in the third set to take a commanding lead and then finished off the match, 25-18.
The Maroons were limited to a .196 attack percentage (36 kills, 14 errors, 112 attempts) with two aces and four blocks. DePauw hit for a .282 attack percentage (41 kills, 10 errors, 110 attempts) with 10 aces and three blocks.
The UChicago senior class wraps up its four-year run with an overall record of 112-41 (.732 winning percentage) and four trips to the NCAA postseason. Senior outside hitter Morgan Barry and junior outside hitter Maren Loe both tallied 11 kills. Junior setter Ragine Graves handed out 32 assists and collected 15 digs.
