Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Chicago men's soccer put 11 shots on goal, but couldn't get the equalizer in a 1-0 loss at Kalamazoo College on Saturday.
The Maroons (3-1-0) absorbed their first loss of the year. The Hornets improved to 2-1-0.
Kalamazoo tallied the match's lone goal at 31:44 in the first half. The home team led the shots category 7-6 at the break. In the second half, UChicago was given a boost when a Kalamazoo player was ejected for a second yellow card in the 74th minute. The Maroons peppered the Hornets with shots down the stretch, but goalie Beau Prey denied them all. Prey ended up with 11 saves in the match.
UChicago finished with a 16-11 shot edge and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Junior goalkeeper Brett Wiesen (1-1-0) played the first half, allowing one goal and making four saves. Freshman goalie Hill Bonin took over in the second half and made one save.
