CHICAGO – After 81 minutes of a constant offensive barrage, the University of Chicago women's soccer team broke through with the only goal it needed in a 1-0 victory over North Central College on Saturday.

The Maroons (6-3-0 record) have won all six of their home matches with only two goals allowed. The Cardinals dropped to 5-3-0 on the season.

Coming into the game, UChicago had dominated the all-time series with North Central. The Maroons won the three previous meetings by a combined score of 14-0. On Saturday, it took 93 seconds for UChicago to post its first shot of the game. The shots kept flying as the hosts totaled 30 in the game (15 in each half). Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Moore, freshman midfielder Jenna McKinney and sophomore forward Mia Calamari racked up six shots each to lead the attack.

The forays came up empty for most of the afternoon, with a close call at 65:38 when McKinney hit the post with her shot. The first and only score finally came at 81:22 when Moore tallied her second goal of the year. Senior midfielder Naomi Pacalin assisted on the play.

UChicago's defense faced eight shots, including four on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Piper Mik (6-3-0 record) made the save each time and picked up her third shutout on the season. Corner kicks were overwhelmingly in favor of the hosts by a 13-1 margin. The Maroons own a season advantage in corner kicks of 72-23.
