Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Chicago men's soccer team led for most the night, but a late equalizing goal resulted in a 1-1 tie at Carthage College on Tuesday.
The Maroons ran their record to 7-2-1 and the Red Men moved to 5-4-1. The all-time series now stands at 3-2-1 series in favor of Carthage.
While the home team took more of the shots in the first half, UChicago made its best chance count with a goal in the 27th minute. Junior forward Brenton Desai tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season with an assist coming from freshman forward Matthew Koh.
The visitors went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Carthage took six shots compared to three by UChicago, while corner kicks were even at two apiece.
The Maroons were just over a minute away from victory when a Red Men free kick resulted in the tying goal at the 88:50 mark of the second half. The two sides went to overtime and battled through 20 scoreless minutes of extra time. Sophomore midfielder Andre Abedian took UChicago's last chance at a goal, but his shot was saved in the 110th minute and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hill Bonin corralled a season-high eight saves. He moved his record to 6-2-1. Carthage ended up with an 18-8 advantage in shots and a 4-2 corner kick edge.
