CHICAGO – The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams returned to the pool after a two-month competition break with a home tri-meet against Lewis University and Olivet Nazarene University on Friday night. Both Maroon squads came away with two team wins.
On the women's half, UChicago defeated Lewis 203-91 and Olivet Nazarene 224-73.
All told, the women won 10 events on the evening, with four multi-event winners. Senior Daria Wick was first to touch the wall in both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles, while junior Audrey Mason was victorious in the longer freestyle races (500 and 1,000). Sophomore Hadley Ackerman was the winner in both the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM. Sophomore Elizabeth Shen swam the anchor leg for both the 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Maroon women took the top spot in both the one-meter and three-meter drives with Elizabeth Cron and Alice Saparov, respectively. Saparov achieved NCAA provisional qualifying scores on both boards (259.27 and 280.65). Senior Anna Girlich (three-meter, 272.85) and Cron (one-meter, 287.55) each recorded NCAA provisional scores as well.
The Maroon men were similarly triumphant, 160-116 over Lewis and 194-78 against Olivet Nazarene.
UChicago earned victories in six total events. Junior Byrne Litschgi and senior Alexander Farrell both swam legs on the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay. Sophomore Joseph Zhao posted winning dives on both the one-meter and three-meter boards.
