CHICAGO – The University of Chicago swimming & diving teams returned to action for the first time since November, handily defeating Lewis University and Olivet Nazarene University in a home tri-meet on Friday evening.
The UChicago women defeated Lewis 228-64 and Olivet Nazarene 238-61, while the Maroon men beat Lewis 189-98 and Olivet Nazarene 218-65.
Over the course of 32 total events, UChicago picked up 14 women's wins and 11 men's victories.
On the women's side, first-year Chanell Kann finished first in three different races. She took the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.56), 200-yard IM (2:08.87) and as part of the 200-yard medley relay (1:48.48). Senior Agnes Lo swept the one-meter and three-meter boards with scores of 273.98 and 288.23, respectively. First-year Ayisha Afrik swam anchor leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay. First-year Grace Schwieters was part of the 200 free relay while also triumphing in the 100-yard butterfly (59.74).
On the men's side, junior Keda Song was a double winner in both the 100-yard butterfly (50.38) and 100-yard backstroke (50.47). The one-meter (295.50) and three-meter (332.63) dives were topped by first-year Andrew Chen. Senior Byrne Litschgi and junior Jonathan Mendley both swam legs on the victorious 200-yard medley relay (1:33.15) and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.71). Mendley also captured the 50-yard freestyle in 21.17. First-year Arthur Kiselnikov was the anchor leg on the 200 free relay while also winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.20).
