CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's tennis team bounced back on day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III National Team Indoor Championship with a 9-0 sweep of host Centre College on Saturday.
The No. 8-ranked Maroons improved to 7-1 while the Colonels fell to 2-6. In the eight-team bracket, UChicago is the No. 5 seed while Centre entered as the No. 8 seed.
Doubles was a rapid affair with the Maroons only surrendering three games combined in three matches. Singles ended up similarly one-sided. In the six matches, UChicago won 72 of the 80 games played.
First-year Claudia Ng and sophomore Annika Pandey each tallied 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Pandey and junior Catherine Xu also picked up an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Multiple winners on the day included Ng, Pandey, Xu, sophomore Lauren Park and first-year Perene Wang.
