Box Score SAINT PAUL, Minn. – After peppering Macalester College with shots in the first half, the University of Chicago men's soccer team finally broke through an hour into Friday night's contest and eventually secured a 1-0 victory.
The No. 19-ranked Maroons improved to 3-0 on the season. The Scots fell to 1-3.
UChicago came out firing early and often, racking up 14 shots in the opening 45 minutes of action. The continual forward charge also led to a whopping nine corner kicks during that time. However, the Scots denied the opportunities, with multiple blocked shots and six total saves.
The game remained scoreless until the 59th minute. That's when sophomore Ryan Yetishefsky netted his first collegiate goal to put the Maroons up 1-0. That advantage held the rest of the way. Macalester's last best chance came in the 85th minute, but the shot was saved by senior goalkeeper Calvin Walters.
UChicago finished with an impressive advantage in shots (21-5) and corner kicks (13-1). Walters earned the shutout with two saves in 90 minutes of action. Yetishefsky finished with six shots taken and junior Kameron Bloye fired off four shots of his own.
