Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's first-ranked men's soccer program won its 14th-straight match to begin the 2022 campaign on Sunday, defeating Case Western Reserve 2-1 at home in University Athletic Association (UAA) action.
The Maroons scored once in each half and held Case Western Reserve off the board for most of the match, conceding in the final minute. UChicago got off to a fast start in the sixth minute as Tanner Baldwin crossed in a ball from the right wing that was tapped in by Kai Walsh.
Neither side found much offensively as the half progressed and the Maroons led 1-0 at the break. UChicago came out renewed with an adjusted lineup to begin the second half, creating a few chances in the first 15 minutes. Alex Lee doubled UChicago's advantage a short time later, taking a pass from Nathan Moonsinghe and hammering it past an outstretched Spartan keeper with his left foot.
The Spartans scored with 34 seconds left, but UChicago was able to see out the 2-1 result. The Maroons will have 12 days off from competition before taking on New York University on Friday, Oct. 28 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
