Box Score NAPERVILLE, Ill. – University of Chicago's women's basketball program defeated North Central College 68-48 in its season opener Saturday evening.
The Maroons stormed out to a 24-10 lead after the end of the first quarter and never looked back, adding to their advantage in the final three frames. Marissa Powe led the scoring effort with 18 points, knocking down three triples in 31 minutes of action. Grace Hynes and Mallory Brodnik were also in double-figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
UChicago held NCC to just 28.1 percent shooting from the field and 31.6 percent shooting from distance. The Maroons shot 46.7 percent overall and made seven threes.
The Maroons take on Benedictine on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. CT in Lisle, Ill.
