Box Score 2 SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – University of Chicago's women's volleyball program opened its 2022 University Athletic Association (UAA) slate with sweeps of Rochester and Case Western Reserve on Saturday.
Rochester
The Maroons made quick work of Rochester in straight sets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15, respectively. Offensively, UChicago hit at a solid .294 clip while holding its opponents to an .077 attacking percentage.
Six different Maroons recorded four of more kills with Emma Lotts' 7 leading the attack. Maddie Ryan and Maya Patel combined for 27 assists as the setting duo. Julia Craig racked up a team-high 12 digs while outside hitters Maggie McInerney and Natalie Schildt both collected nine. Diya Mishra led the way in efficiency with four kills on five attempts and zero errors.
Case Western Reserve
UChicago kept the momentum going in its final match of the day, sweeping Case Western Reserve by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21, respectively. The Maroon offense was on display again, racking up over 14 kills in each set.
Schildt and McInerney combined for 23 kills on the outside to lead the way. Mishra and Ellie Alden chipped in 15 kills from their middle positions, attacking at a blistering .419 clip. Cami Cox also had a solid day with five kills, adding two solo blocks and five block assists. The Maroons had 10.0 team blocks in the match, holding Case Western to a .100 hitting percentage.
UChicago will try and complete a perfect weekend at the UAA Round Robin #1, taking on Emory at Noon on Sept. 18.
