Men's Basketball Edged by NYU in UAA Home Opener

CHICAGO – University of Chicago's men's basketball program fell 69-64 to New York University on Friday evening in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. 

UChicago and NYU traded baskets for much of the contest as the Maroons trailed by just one at half. The Violets were able to hold off UChicago in the second half, claiming the five-point victory. Bryce Hopkins led the Maroons with 22 points and added nine rebounds, two steals and one block. Thomas Kurowski went 3-for-8 from distance and totaled 19 points in 38 minutes.

The Maroons made a game-high eight threes, shooting 33.3 percent from deep. NYU held a 20-14 advantage at the free throw line, which included two late made attempts with UChicago making a run in the final 30 seconds. 

The Maroons take on Brandeis on Sunday, January 15 at Noon inside the Ratner Athletics Center.
