Box Score ATLANTA – University of Chicago's men's basketball team fell 79-75 in overtime to 16th-ranked Emory University on Friday evening in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.
The Maroons built a seven-point halftime lead before Emory erased its deficit as the second half progressed. Both sides had opportunities at winning the matchup in regulation, but overtime was needed to settle the result. Down by two with 16 seconds to go in OT, UChicago had a chance to tie it, but a strong defensive play by the Eagles secured them the victory.
Bryce Hopkins scored a team-high 18 points and added eight rebounds and four assists. Joe Berry added 16 points and Atlanta-native Eamonn Kenah notched 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three. Thomas Kurowski also tallied double-digit points with 11 while dishing out five assists and grabbing six rebounds.
UChicago assisted on 18 of its 27 field goals and shot 43.3 percent from deep, making a total of 13 three-point attempts. Emory's 18 made free throws compared to the Maroons' eight played a factor in the game. In total, the matchup featured 12 ties and 11 lead changes.
The Maroons take on another ranked opponent on Sunday, facing off with No. 11 Rochester on the road at 11 a.m. CT.
