Men's Basketball Falls Late at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – University of Chicago's men's basketball team was defeated in a back-and-forth road matchup at Brandeis University on Sunday in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.

UChicago and Brandeis were tied with 1:41 to go before the Judges knocked down a contested three-pointer with 1:20 remaining to seal the result. After the 58-52 loss, the Maroons dropped to 9-13 overall and 2-9 in UAA games.

Joe Berry led the scoring with 21 points on 10-for-11 shooting from the field while racking up five rebounds and two assists. Eamonn Kenah was also in double figures with 11 points. Thomas Kurowski grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

UChicago won the rebounding battle 40-31 and had 20 points in the paint while the Judges had 14. Both sides struggled from distance as Brandeis was held to 28.6 percent shooting from deep while the Maroons shot just 21.7 percent.

The Maroons return to Chicago for their final three home games, taking on Carnegie Mellon and Case Western Reserve on Feb. 17 and Feb. 19, respectively.
