CHICAGO – University of Chicago's 18th-ranked women's basketball program defeated Case Western Reserve University for its 20th regular season win on Sunday in University Athletic Association (UAA) action.

The Maroons (20-4, 9-4 UAA) built a seven-point lead after the opening quarter and continued to extend it through the final three frames to claim the 12-point win. Ellie Gross stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists. 

Grace Hynes added a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Marissa Powe was also in double-figures with 16 points. Sophia North knocked down two three-pointers and finished with 10 points.

UChicago's rebounding played a major factor as the Maroons outrebounded the Spartans 49-32. The Maroons converted 15 offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points and won the paint battle 36-26.

The Maroons will host WashU on Saturday, Feb. 25 for Senior Day at 1 p.m. CT in its final regular season home game of the 2022-23 season.
