Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's men's basketball program fell to No. 21 Case Western Reserve University 76-67 on Sunday in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.
The Maroons went toe-to-toe with ranked CWRU for most of the contest, but the Spartans ripped off 14-0 run with 3:45 to go to secure the win. Bryce Hopkins led UChicago in a balanced scoring effort with 11 points. Arrish Bhandal was also in double-digits with 10 points, adding seven rebounds.
Thomas Kurowski, Jackson Piotrowski, Joe Berry, Elliot Paschal and Eamonn Kenah each added seven or more points in support. Kurowski had a team-high 11 rebounds, but the Maroons were outrebounded slightly 40-37.
UChicago scored at a higher efficiency, shooting 42.1 percent to CWRU's 37.9 percent. However, the Spartans' 12 threes compared to eight for the Maroons played a major factor down the stretch.
The Maroons take on WashU on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. CT in their final contest of the 2022-23 season. Senior Day recognition will occur prior to tipoff.
