CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's tennis team cruised to a pair of home victories over NAIA opponents Holy Cross College (Ind.) and Cardinal Stritch University over the weekend.

The No. 2-ranked Maroons improved to 5-0 on the season.

UChicago started off with an 8-1 team victory over Holy Cross on Saturday. The Saints picked up a narrow win at No. 1 doubles, but the Maroons were dominant in the remaining matches. Claudia Ng did not drop a game in either singles (6-0, 6-0 at No. 5) or doubles alongside Perene Wang (8-0 at No. 2). Nicole Geller and Miranda Yuan also posted a lopsided 8-1 result at No. 3 doubles. Brooke Pedersen only allowed one game in her 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 singles. Other singles wins came courtesy of Shianna Guo, Geller, Yuan and Lauren Khou.

On Sunday, the Maroons secured their third 9-0 shutout of the year, this time against Cardinal Stritch. Multi-winners on the day included Guo, Geller, Yuan, Ng and Khou. Pedersen also submitted a straight-sets result in singles. Ng and Wang won 8-1 in doubles, and Ng rolled at No. 5 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
