GEORGETOWN, Texas – University of Chicago's top-ranked women's tennis program notched a convincing 8-1 victory over 18th-ranked Southwestern University (TX) on Friday.
The Maroons swept the doubles competition and fell in just 1-of-6 singles matches to improve to 10-0 on the season. UChicago's top doubles tandem, Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo, won 8-2. Claudia Ng and Perene Wang defeated their opponents at No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Nicole Geller and Brooke Pedersen won by a score of 8-2 in the third doubles slot.
Mikos, Guo, Pederson and Ng each controlled their matches in the singles bouts as well, winning in straight sets. Geller split the first two sets at No. 3 singles 6-4, 1-6 before winning the deciding set, 6-4.
UChicago will face North Central in a home match at XS Tennis on Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. CT.
