Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's 14th-ranked women's lacrosse program suffered its first setback of the 2023 campaign on Wednesday evening, falling to 12th-ranked Colby College 16-7.
The Maroons (5-1 record) were led by Zoe Torok's two goals on seven shots, four on target. Avery Song, Olivia Hung, Alexis Veldhuis, Lulu Hardy and Katie Large accounted for UChicago's goal scorers.
UChicago trailed early, down 6-1 after the first quarter, and was unable to chip away at that deficit as the game progressed. The Maroons started to find their offensive form in the fourth quarter, outscoring Colby 4-2 in the final frame.
Goalie Rachel Keefe (5-1) made 10 saves with 14 goals allowed in three quarter. Emily Feigen made one save in the fourth quarter.
Colby held advantages in shots (31-25), draw controls (16-9) and ground balls (15-11).
The loss snapped UChicago's 32-game winning streak at home on the Stagg Field turf.
UChicago continues its homestand on Sunday with a noon tilt hosting Kenyon.
