Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's 17th-ranked women's lacrosse team fell 10-9 to Denison University in triple overtime in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday.
The Maroons led 7-5 at halftime, but a 4-2 second half from the Big Red sent the match-up to overtime. After two scoreless OT periods, Denison netted the game-winner in the final seconds of triple overtime to come away with the victory. The defeat snapped an 11-game win streak for UChicago, which had defeated Denison 20-9 on its home field on March 4.
Lulu Hardy led the offensive effort with three goals and added two assists. Katie Large added two goals on five shots. Avery Song, Jill Hooey, Zoe Torok and Camille Kuwana each had one goal.
Rachel Keefe (15-3) made several critical stops in OT, finishing with 12 saves on 22 shots in 77:52 of action. Defensively, Lizzie Huesman had four caused turnovers and six ground balls, also helping the Maroons to four draw controls. Kali Konstantinakos had three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
UChicago concludes its season with a 16-3 overall record and as winners of the CCIW Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Maroons will graduate an accomplished 2023 senior class of Emily Feigen, Hailey Klinger, Katie Large, Charlotte Rapp, Peyton Sanborn, Zoe Torok and Becky Van Kirk.
