Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's 17th-ranked and top-seeded women's lacrosse program coasted to a 19-3 win over second-seeded Carroll University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Maroons added a 2023 postseason championship to their trophy case after notching the 2023 regular season title as well, a feat UChicago has now achieved in three-straight seasons.
After earning the CCIW's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, UChicago awaits its opponent in the upcoming national tournament, which will be announced on Monday, May 8 at 9:30 a.m. CT on ncaa.com.
In the game, the Maroons dominated from the outset, blanking Carroll in the first and second quarters on their way to an 11-0 halftime lead. UChicago scored eight more in the second half and limited the Pioneers to three, coming away with another convincing win.
UChicago outshot Carroll 38-13 and had a huge lead in ground balls, 30-11. The Pioneers committed 25 turnovers and only converted 11 of 22 clear attempts.
Offensively, Lulu Hardy led the attack with four goals and four assists. Camille Kuwana added three on five shots, four on target. Avery Song, Peyton Sanborn, Evelina Swigart, Katie Large and Jane Chen each scored two goals in support. Jill Hooey and Olivia Hung rounded out the goal scorers with one each. Chen also had four assists, tying Hardy for a team-high. Kali Konstantinakos led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and six ground balls.
Rachel Keefe (15-2) earned the win in 45:00 minutes, making six saves on seven shots. Emily Feigen played the final 15 minutes to finish off the game.
