Maroons Fall at NYU in Double O.T.

NEW YORK -- New York University's Kyle Green scored both of his team's goals as the host Violets defeated the University of Chicago men's soccer team 2-1 in double overtime in University Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon.

With just over a minute left in the match, Colm Dillane sent a corner kick to Green, who headed the ball into the net to give NYU (6-6-1 overall, 2-2 UAA) the victory.

Green gave the Violets the lead in the 18th minute, scoring on a breakaway after stealing a pass back to the keeper.

Senior Stanton Coville (Powell, Ohio/ Olentangy Liberty) headed in a corner kick attempt from sophomore Sawyer Kisken (Fairbanks, Alaska/ West Valley) in the 82nd minute to even the score and send the game into overtime. The goal was Coville's sixth of the season.

Coville (pictured) nearly gave the Maroons (5-6-2, 0-4) the win in the final minute of regulation with a header off the top of the crossbar. In the first overtime, he fired a shot from 30 yards away that NYU netminder Forrest Sexton stopped with a diving save -- one of his seven on the day.

The Maroons, who suffered their fifth straight loss, outshot NYU 15-8.

Chicago returns home for its final non-conference game of the year Thursday against Concordia University Chicago. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
