Box Score 2 NEW YORK -- After defeating the University of Rochester in three sets in the quarterfinals, the 16th-ranked University of Chicago dropped a three-set decision to #3 Washington (Mo.) University in the semifinals Friday at the 2011 University Athletic Association Volleyball Championship at New York University.
Match Summary
Chicago (28-5, 6-3 UAA) hit at a .292 clip as it cruised past Rochester 25-17, 25-22, 25-20, but then hit only .115 as it fell to Washington 25-17, 25-20, 25-11.
The Maroons recorded 13 blocks in their win over the Yellowjackets (19-15, 2-6 UAA), before collecting just three in the loss to the Bears (32-1, 9-1 UAA).
Statistical Leaders
Junior middle blockers Caroline Brander (River Forest, Ill./ Trinity) and Katie Trela (Glencoe, Ill./ Regina Dominican) combined to hit .519 (19-5-27) against Rochester. Brander led the Maroons with 11 kills, while Trela added eight.
Junior libero Samantha Brown (Louisville, Ky./ Mercy Academy) contributed 15 digs against Rochester.
