PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team finished the second leg of the UAA Round Robin with a 4-0 record on the weekend, including a 2-0 mark on Sunday. The Maroons swept University of Rochester 3-0 and then beat Case Western Reserve University 3-1.
The No. 12-ranked Maroons improved to 20-6 overall and 6-1 in UAA action. The Yellowjackets ran their record to 17-9 overall, 2-5 in UAA. The Spartans are now 18-8 overall, 4-3 in UAA.
Chicago started the day with a 3-0 sweep against Rochester (25-16, 30-28, 26-24). Katie Huntington led the way in kills with 16 while adding seven digs. Caroline Brander's stat line included 12 kills, two aces and three total blocks. Nikki DelZenero dished out 44 assists to go with her 11 digs, four kills and three blocks. Eirene Kim collected 16 digs from her libero position.
The day ended with a 3-1 victory for the Maroons over Case Western Reserve University (25-19, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23). Huntington was the offensive catalyst once again with 17 kills while adding 10 digs and four assisted blocks. Brander was efficient with 13 kills on 22 attempts and served up four aces. Maren Loe tallied 11 kills and 12 digs. Katie Trela put up big block numbers in the middle with six total. DelZenero had 48 assists and nine digs. Kim (31 digs) passed the 30-dig mark for the second time on the weekend.
The Maroons will next head to Dominican University at 7 PM on Wednesday.
