CHICAGO, Ill. -- A penalty kick in overtime gave Washington University in St. Louis a 4-3 victory over the University of Chicago men's soccer team on Saturday. The Maroons closed out their regular season with a 9-6-2 overall record, including a 3-4-0 mark in the UAA. The No. 19-ranked Bears improved to 10-4-3 overall and 3-2-2 in conference.

The four members of UChicago's senior class - Sawyer Kisken, Sam Preston, Adam Shamlian and Terrell White - were recognized on the field before the game. Over their four years in the program, the seniors totaled a cumulative record of 34-25-10.

The Maroons wasted no time as White scored 2:33 into the game from eight yards out, with an assist from junior midfielder Nic Lopez. In the 16th minute, Kisken smacked in an 18-yard shot to put UChicago ahead 2-0. The assist came courtesy of sophomore midfielder Jorge Bilbao. The home team owned a 10-5 shot advantage in the first half and went into the break with the two-goal lead.

Washington-St. Louis trimmed the deficit early in the second half when Nik Patel's wind-aided blast from 40 yards out went over the goalkeeper and in. UChicago pushed the lead to 3-1 in the 65th minute when junior midfielder/defender Nick Codispoti deposited a penalty kick into the back of the net.

Despite the deficit, the Bears rallied back late to tie and send the game into overtime. Jack Fischer headed in a corner in the 83rd minute and a penalty kick by Michael Flowers tied it at 3-3 in the 86th minute. In overtime, the visitors were awarded yet another penalty kick and Jonathan Lipsey converted to win the game in the 95th minute.

Washington-St. Louis led the shot totals 19-14 and corner kicks 10-3. UChicago sophomore goalkeeper Brett Wiesen (8-4-2) took the loss with three saves made and four goals allowed.
