CHICAGO, Ill. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team wrapped up the 2013 Gargoyle Classic with a 3-0 win over Benedictine University and a 3-0 loss to Millikin University on Saturday. The Maroons ran their record to 10-5.

Junior libero Eirene Kim was also named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the two-day invite. She ended up with 75 digs over the course of four matches.

UChicago took down Benedictine University 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-18. The Maroons scored very efficiently in the first set, taking a 9-3 lead that expanded up to 21-8. The second set saw the home side embark on a 14-5 run to go up 2-0. The Eagles hung close in the third set, but the Maroons were able to keep their lead cushioned and finished off the sweep.

Millikin eked past UChicago in the first two sets and then cruised in the third set to claim the 3-0 victory (27-25, 25-23, 25-11). The Maroons led much of the first set and owned a set point at 24-22. But the Big Blue scored five of the next six points to steal the lead. The second set played very close, with UChicago scoring three-straight points to even it at 23-23. But Millikin took the next two points and a commanding 2-0 lead. The visitors then went on a 15-5 run to close out the third set and the match.
