Box Score 2 CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Chicago volleyball team kicked off day one of the Carthage Invitational on Friday with victories over Alma College and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Maroons improved to 7-4 on the year.
UChicago 3, Alma 0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-22)
Alma took the early lead at 6-2 to start the match, but UChicago quickly tied the score at 7-7. Up 16-15, the Maroons tallied four-straight points and pulled away to take the set 25-22.
The second set was all UChicago. The Maroons went up 14-6 and cruised from there to 25-17. The third set was closely contested, with a tie at 18-18. Three-straight points put UChicago ahead and the match ended soon after at 25-22.
The Maroons totaled 32 kills and a .190 attack percentage, including .235 in the third set. The Scots finished with 38 kills and a .117 attack percentage. The two teams met previously this season on Sept. 6, which also concluded with a 3-0 victory for UChicago.

In the last match of the evening, the Eagles took the early advantage 25-23. But UChicago controlled the next two sets handily, 25-13 and 25-17. In a close fourth set, the Maroons pulled out the victory 25-23.
Junior setter Ragine Graves tied her season-high with 42 assists and also tallied a career-best 27 digs. UChicago totaled 52 kills in the match, a .245 attack percentage, nine service aces and nine total blocks. Freshman middle blocker Taylor David contributed a career-high eight assisted blocks.
