BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The No. 20-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team beat Hiram College 3-0 on Friday but lost a pair of 3-2 matches to No. 14-ranked Carthage College and DePauw University on Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan University Barker Classic.

At the conclusion of the weekend action, junior libero Mary Claire Tuohy was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Maroons ran their record to 19-10 on the season.

UChicago 3, Hiram 0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-14)

UChicago got off to a good start on the weekend, smacking 16 kills with only one error in the opening set. The Maroons went on to sweep in straight sets while hitting .327 overall for the match.

Senior outside hitter Maren Loe was particularly efficient with 16 kills and a .454 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Audrey Scrafford was next on the team with 13 kills. Senior setter Ragine Graves tallied 31 assists and 13 digs.

Carthage 3, UChicago 2 (25-15, 13-25, 9-25, 25-14, 18-16)

Saturday started with a big showdown between nationally-ranked opponents UChicago and Carthage. The Lady Reds held sway to win the first set 25-15. However, the Maroons blasted off in the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead. UChicago only committed two attack errors combined in the sets and had its way offensively to the tune of a .403 hitting percentage. Carthage got back on track to win the fourth set and force a deciding fifth. The Lady Reds eked out the victory 18-16.

Loe contributed in all facets with 22 kills, 23 digs and five blocks. Scrafford posted 18 kills of her own. Graves handed out 45 assists and tied for the team lead with 23 digs. Tuohy produced 23 digs and six assists while freshman rightside hitter Sarah Muisenga had 15 digs. UChicago compiled a .246 hitting percentage in the match while adding seven blocks and seven aces.

DePauw 3, UChicago 2 (15-25, 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 15-11)

DePauw and UChicago met for the first time since last season's NCAA Tournament first-round match. The Maroons jumped ahead 25-15, but the Tigers took the next two sets 25-23 and 25-18. UChicago went on to tie the match at 25-21. In the fifth set, DePauw emerged with a 15-11 win.

UChicago hit. 162 overall in the match. Loe paced the team again with 18 kills while adding 13 digs. Senior outside hitter Jasmine Mobley and Scrafford scored 14 kills each. Tuohy set a new career high in digs with 42. Graves assisted on 40 kills along with 12 digs.
