CHICAGO –The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams were in dominant form in their season-opening dual meet on Saturday afternoon, capturing a combined 29 event wins against Wheaton College.

On the women's side, UChicago beat Wheaton by a score of 236-55 inside the Myers-McLoraine Pool. The women won 15 events across the day. First-year Karen Zhao compiled a team-high four victories. She took first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.53), the 500-yard freestyle (5:13.48) and as part of the winning 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays. Junior Chanell Kann captured the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.79) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:13.91), while also swimming a leg on the winning 200 medley relay. Senior Elizabeth Cron swept the one-meter dive (238.35) and three-meter dive (249.15). Sophomore Alesha Kelly captured both butterfly events, going 58.30 in the 100 and 2:04.74 in the 200. Kelly's 200 butterfly achieved an NCAA B cut time.

On the men's side, the Maroons outpointed Wheaton 238-56 thanks to 14 event victories. Juniors Lucius Gao and Arthur Kiselnikov led UChicago's contingent in the final results. Gao won the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.58) and 100-yard butterfly (50.46). Kiselnikov tied for first in 50-yard freestyle alongside first-year teammate Jonathan Tang (21.04), and also participated on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
