Box Score CHICAGO – University of Chicago's top-ranked men's soccer program defeated No. 14 Carnegie Mellon University 4-0 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.
The victory for the Maroons improves their record to an unblemished 13-0 to begin the 2022 campaign. UChicago got on the board early as Nathan Moonesinghe headed home a corner routine via Lyndon Hu and Jack Leuker in the third minute.
Kai Walsh pounced on a Robbie Pino pass inside the box in the 10th minute, doubling the Maroons' advantage. UChicago knocked for a third in the first half with two narrowly-missed header chances, but took the 2-0 lead into the break.
Tanner Baldwin converted a parried Pino shot in the 54th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Ryan Yetishefsky put himself on the scoresheet in the 61st minute, beating the keeper from close range after a backheeled pass from Alex Lee.
UChicago's defense saw out the remainder of the match for its ninth clean sheet of the season and third in-a-row.
The Maroons take on Case Western Reserve on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.
