Box Score 2 ELMHURST, Ill. – University of Chicago's women's volleyball team split its competitions on Saturday, downing Elmhurst in five before falling to UW-Eau Claire in non-conference play.
Elmhurst
UChicago opened its day with a back-and-forth contest at host-Elmhurst. The Maroons trailed 1-0 and 2-1, but continued their bounce-back ways, winning sets two and four by scores of 25-22 and 25-17, respectively.
UChicago jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the fifth frame and took that advantage to the finish line, claiming a 15-12 victory. Natalie Schildt posted 18 kills to lead the offense while Maggie McInerney added 13.
McInerney and Schildt also each had double-doubles, racking up 21 and 13 digs, respectively. Ellie Alden was also effective on the offensive end with eight kills and one service ace.
UW-Eau Claire
The Maroons battled with the defending National Champions, but fell by set scores of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15 in their second match of the day.
Cami Cox and Diya Mishra had solid offensive outings with 15 combined kills to lead UChicago. As a team, the Maroons hit just .086 while UW-Eau Claire attacked at a .256 clip.
Maya Patel served as the primary setter and finished with 25 assists in the three sets. Julia Craig had a team-high 19 digs, anchoring the back line.
UChicago returns home, where it is 5-2 this season, to take on UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
