Box Score

CHICAGO – University of Chicago's men's soccer program defeated Gustavus Adolphus 1-0 on Sunday afternoon to advance to the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship.

The No. 2-ranked Maroons (20-0-1 record) finished with an undefeated 13-0 mark at home on Stagg Field with the win over the No. 5-ranked Gusties in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Lyndon Hu accounted for the UChicago goal as he converted a penalty kick, after a foul drawn by Alex Gomas in the box, in the 24th minute.

UChicago outshot the Gusties 13-4 and had nine shots on target compared to Gustavus' one. The Maroon backline, anchored by Richard Gillespie and Griffin Wada, shut down most of the Gustie chances. Goalkeeper Will Boyes earned the clean sheet, making one save in a full 90 minutes of action.

The Maroons will gear up for the Final Four in Salem, Va., as they will take on Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday, Dec. 1 in the National Semifinal.
