Box Score HOLLAND, Mich. – University of Chicago's women's volleyball program fell in four sets on the road at No. 9 Hope in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Maroons fell in the opening set 25-14, but stormed back with a 25-19 set two victory to even the match at 1-all. Hope garnered victories in the final two back-and-forth frames to take the 3-1 victory.
UChicago and Hope were both firing on all cylinders offensively as the sides hit .215 and .277, respectively. The Maroon attack was paced by Natalie Schildt, Ellie Alden, Maggie McInerney and Cami Cox, whom all had double-digit kills in the match.
Maya Patel and Maddie Ryan combined for 42 assists as the setting tandem. McInerney and Schildt were also excellent on the defensive end with 12 and 10 digs, respectively, as each recorded a double-double. Patel also joined the double-double cohort with 12 digs in four sets.
The Maroons now prepare for their first weekend of conference play with the UAA Round Robin in St. Louis, Mo., hosted by WashU. UChicago will take on Rochester, Case Western Reserve and Emory in its opening UAA Triangular on Sept. 16-17.
