Box Score CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The University of Chicago women's soccer team tied its season high in goals and scored their first six shots on frame to beat Case Western Reserve University 6-0 on Friday.
The Maroons improved to 11-5-0 and 3-2-0 in the UAA. The Spartans fell to 7-5-4 and 1-3-1 in conference play.
Sara Kwan scored two goals on the first three shots of the game. Her first goal came on a 35-yard run in the 10th minute. Less than three minutes later, Kwan struck again from in front of the net with an assist from Beatrice Hobson.
Naomi Pacalin made it 3-0 Chicago in the 42nd minute with her first career collegiate goal. The freshman tallied a header goal off an assist by Anna Goddi.
The shot count was very close between the two teams, but the Maroons made theirs count with a trifecta of goals between the 63rd and 70th minute. Meghan Derken crossed the ball in and Hobson put it into the back of the net to push the lead to 4-0. One minute later, Goddi tapped in a score off a rebound. Claire Mackevicius finished off the barrage with a goal of her own on a loose ball in the box.
Chicago goalie Jacinda Reid (9-4-0) made six saves in her 76 minutes of work. Mallory Morse relieved Reid for the final 14 minutes and tallied two saves of her own.
The Maroons held a slight 13-12 edge in shots while the Spartans led in corner kicks 4-3.
