UChicago Women's Soccer Downs Brandeis On the Road, 2-1

Box Score

WALTHAM, Mass. – Katie Jasminski's goal in the 35th minute opened up a tight game on the road at University Athletic Association foe Brandeis, as the road squad No. 13 University of Chicago women's soccer team came away with a hard-fought 2-1 victory Friday night.

Jasminski netted her seventh goal of the season in the process, as the junior connected with a shot to the lower left corner from the top of the 18-yard box with less than 10 minutes to play before the half. Teammate Nikola Charouzova set her up perfectly, as the sophomore, taking the ball down the right side in transition, centered the ball for Jasminski who delivered.

Up 1-0 at the break, the Maroons (9-1-2, 2-0-1 UAA) added to their advantage with an unassisted Hanna Watkins score in the 52', her seventh of the season.

The Judges (9-4, 1-2) responded with a goal of their own in the 64' to create a one-goal game, but the Maroons - aided by a stingy defense and play of starting keeper Miranda Malone (five saves) held on to give UChicago its ninth win of the season and second in league play.

Brandeis led the game in shots, 12-9, though UChicago had more corner kicks, 4-3. UChicago capitalized when on frame: the Maroons scored both shots on goal, while Brandeis finished with six shots on frame, scoring just once.
