UChicago Women's Soccer Ties WashU 1-1

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – In the final University Athletic Association (UAA) matchup of the regular season, the University of Chicago women's soccer team battled Washington University – St. Louis to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The No. 16-ranked Maroons completed the regular season at 12-2-4 overall and 2-2-3 in the UAA. The No. 6-ranked Bears moved to 14-1-2 (5-1 UAA).

The NCAA postseason bracket will be revealed in an online selection show on NCAA.com at 12:30 PM (CT) on Monday. UChicago is an at-large Pool C candidate for the tournament and has qualified for the field seven-straight years.

The Maroons and the Bears went back and forth in the first half, but the game remained scoreless until the 38th minute. That's when sophomore Maggie Jameson put UChicago ahead with her fifth goal of the season, off an assist by junior Bella Mahoney.

That advantage held for the next 20 minutes of game time, until WashU found the equalizer at the 57:57 mark.

The game remained knotted at 1-1 as the two teams played through two overtime periods before the draw was finalized.

Senior goalkeeper Miranda Malone was up to the challenge throughout, equaling her career high with 10 saves in 110 minutes of action between the pipes. She saved a penalty kick in the 14th minute and made five saves in the second overtime to preserve the tie. Malone ran her record on the year to 11-2-4.

WashU held advantages in shots (14-4) and corner kicks (7-1).
