CHICAGO – University of Chicago swimming & diving celebrated its senior class before the meet and then dominated the competition, defeating Calvin University and DePauw University on Saturday afternoon.
It was Senior Day for the Maroons at Myers-McLoraine Pool as the men's and women's teams recognized their 16 seniors at the meet's onset. It was all UChicago after that with the hosts winning 29 out of the 32 events.
The UChicago women beat Calvin 218-75 and topped DePauw 231-59 en route to 14 total victories. Senior diver Elizabeth Cron led the charge with a pair of NCAA qualifying scores. Her one-meter dive total of 308.17 points established a new school record. She also took first in the three-meter dive with 289.12 points. First-year Cynthia Tang produced NCAA qualifying scores as well in the one-meter (299.40 points) and three-meter (265.20) dives.
Senior Nicole Lin also delivered a pair of victories on the day. She triumphed in the 50-yard freestyle (24.67) as well as the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.93).
The Maroon men cruised past Calvin 221-79 and DePauw 243-47. They captured 15 events on the afternoon as three different men were double winners individually. Junior Arthur Kiselnikov claimed the 100-yard freestyle (45.59) and 200-yard freestyle (1:41.27). He also swam legs on the winning 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. In the distance races, first-year Isaac Kim was the winner in the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.82) and 1,000-yard freestyle (9:59.55). The backstrokes were swept by junior Alexander Sun with times of 51.77 in the 100 and 1:50.12 in the 200.
Two men's divers produced NCAA qualifying scores. Sophomore Skylar Migon won the one-meter board with 319.95 points and junior Andrew Chen scored 299.70 points. Sophomore Garrett Clasen achieved an NCAA B-cut with a winning 200-yard IM time of 1:50.16.
